Davies Keen To Create More History In Spain

Chaz Davies hopes history will repeat itself as he returns to the scene of his famous World Superbikes triumph in Spain this weekend.

The Knighton-born rider bagged the long-awaited first victory for the Ducati 1199 Panigale R on the Motorland Aragon track last year.

And after having already claimed a second and third in the opening two rounds in Australia and Thailand, Davies is keen to get back on the top step.

The 29-year-old, who has notched up three wins on the track, said: “In Thailand we had to play defence a bit.

“But considering the issues we faced, we did a good job and collected important points.

“We’re ready to bounce back in Aragon, which is one of my favourite tracks and triggers some great memories, especially my first win with Ducati.

“The circuit suits my style and I was often able to ride at my best there. I also can’t wait to try the latest upgrades, which theoretically should mark another step in the right direction.

“I approach this round with confidence, even though the competition is always strong.”

Davies, who competes for the Aruba.it team is fourth in the World Superbikes standings 40 points behind defending champ Jonathan Rea.

The Ulsterman has won three of the four races so far this season suffering his first defeat in the second race in Thailand when he lost out to Kawasaki team-mate Tom Sykes.
