Davies In Form Of His Life As He Roars To Eighth Win Of Season

Chaz Davies reckons he is hitting a career high after blasting to a third World Superbikes win on the trot in Spain.

The Knighton-born flier followed up his double at the last round with victory in the first race of the weekend in Jerez.

The win was the eighth of the season for Davies as he saw off the Kawasaki duo of reigning champ Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes.

It is probably too late to snatch the title as Davies still trails Rea by 72 points with just 75 points left to race for.

But he hopes it augurs well for next season and a real crack at the Superbikes crown.

The 29-year-old Ducati rider’s win by three seconds from Sykes – taking the lead on lap four after starting on the second row – was his fourth in the last five races.

Davies said: “I wasn’t sure we had enough margin to pull away, given the step forward made by the Kawasakis.

“But we’ve been fast enough to lead from early on so I put my head down and saw the gap building.

“This used to be a bogey track of mine, I never used to be able to get results and it was always difficult.

“The last two years it has kind of clicked a little bit.

“You would think that after 16 years I would be able to get it right sooner or later!

“I’m just so happy to get the victory because yesterday we were looking good and today the track changed quite a bit so we had to react to that, react to our rivals stepping up the pace and we managed to do that.”

 

“I want to say thanks to the team, they worked so hard during the summer break to improve the balance of the bike.

“I feel like I understand the limit a lot better now and I’m perhaps in the best form in my entire career.

“Maybe it’s a bit too late, but all we can do is finish strong and see where that takes us for next season”.
