Davies Fire s Out Title Warning With Crushing World Superbikes Double

Chaz Davies demonstrated his World Superbikes title potential after completing a devastating double in Spain on Sunday.

The Knighton-born flier swept to victory in the second race by over six seconds to follow up Saturday’s crushing triumph on the Motorland Aragon track.

Davies has now claimed five of his 11 career triumphs on the Spanish track where he bagged Ducati’s first win on its new bike 12 months ago.

It was also the third double of his career following up last year’s successes at Laguna Seca in California and in 2013 at Aragon when he was riding a BMW.

Davies – who finished runner-up last year – has leapt from fourth into second in this season’s championship standings thanks to his double win.

The Aruba-it rider is just 26 points behind reigning champ Jonathan Rea with 2013 world beater Tom Sykes slipping to third three points behind the Powys powerhouse.

Davies never looked back after sweeping past Rea and then pole sitter Sykes on the second lap to bolt into the distance.

It turned into another Kawasaki battle behind him for the minor podium places.

And this time Sykes turned the tables from Saturday on Ulsterman Rea to take the runner-up spot after both committed errors
