Chaz Davies is all revved up for the second half of the World Superbikes campaign after a successful two-day test in Italy.

The Knighton-born flier racked up 105 laps on his Ducati on the Italian track ahead of the races there on June 17-19.

Davies would love to triumph for the Italian manufacturer on home soil as he looks to get back into the title fight.

The 29-year-old is third in the standings after a roller-coaster weekend at Donington Park where his bike caught fire in practice, he crashed out in race one before finishing third in the second race.

Davies said: “After so many races, it seems like a long time since our last test.

“It’s been definitely positive to have a couple of days to try things and ideas that can’t be tested on a race weekend.

“It’s a shame that the rain cut our track time short, but we’ve found a couple of good solutions for our base setup that should help us make another step forward, and this is the most important thing.

“At this point of the season, everyone is capable of getting up to speed quite quickly, even though these tests were clearly useful also to get better prepared for next race.

“Last year Misano wasn’t an easy weekend for us, so our goal is to make up for it in a couple of weeks’ time.”

Davies trails reigning champ and title pacesetter Jonathan Rea by 62 points with the Ulsterman’s Kawasaki team-mate Tom Sykes six points better in second.
