“If it’s in the arc, it’s out the park” is a motto Glamorgan will be hoping David Miller brings with him as he joins up for the remainder of their T20 Blast campaign. The Welsh county currently occupy the fourth qualifying spot after the first four games, of which they’ve won two and lost one. The South African left-hander is no stranger to Cardiff in recent years, having last played at the SSE Swalec in the T20 defeat to England in June. He was, however, on the winning side in 2013 when he helped his country to an ICC Champions Trophy win over the West Indies in the Welsh capital.

He was also instrumental in helping Yorkshire to a T20 Finals Day spot at Cardiff in 2012 and has established himself as a global 20-over specialist with stints at the St. Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League and the Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League.

He’s represented South Africa in 52 T20 international games, and he’s played in 99 fifty over games, scoring over 5,000 runs at an average in excess of 34 and a strike rate of 136.

He will provide an additional explosive edge to an attacking Glamorgan line-up which already includes compatriot Colin Ingram and Welsh youngster Aneurin Donald.

Miller’s addition to the squad means that the Welsh county, who pride themselves on the development of home grown talent, have six South Africans in their ranks. This could conceivably mean one of the Welsh trio of David Lloyd, Aneurin Donald and Kiran Carlson missing out, although Lloyd and Carlson are currently out injured.

“We are delighted to sign David Miller for a six-game stint in this year’s Natwest T20 Blast campaign,” said Chief Executive, Hugh Morris.

“David is a fine batsman, with a wealth of experience in T20 cricket.  He is a match-winner and a finisher, proven to be one of the most destructive batsman in the game at both domestic and international level.

“Hopefully his signing will add depth to our batting and boost our prospects of replicating last season’s form when we secured a home quarter-final in the knock-out stages.

“We look forward to welcoming David to The SSE SWALEC this weekend.”
