Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton booked their places in the second round of the Unibet European Championships in Germany.

World No 2 Price cruised through his first-round match over Kim ‘The Hurricane’ Huybrechts in Oberhausen.

Markham marksman Price raced into a 4-0 lead before the Belgian darter clawed back a leg before the break.

But The Iceman  – who finished runner-up last year to Rob Cross who crashed out on the opening day this time – quickly wrapped up a 6-1 victory.

Price averaged over 103 on each visit to send out a warning to his rivals for the title.

Clayton had a tougher battle against Max Hopp but came out on top in an 11-leg thriller.

The Pontyberme thrower survived two missed match darts as The Ferret took a 6-5 victory.

Clayton twice fought back from 2-0 and 5-3 down to book a second-round match with Jose De Sousa

The Portuguese ace landed a nine-dart finish on his way to a 6-3 victory over Jeffrey de Zwaan.
