Chaz Davies will be looking for his first win of the season when World Superbikes makes its debut on the Montmelo circuit near Barcelona.

The Knighton-born rider claimed two second places and a third place last time out at the Teruel Round at Motorland Aragon in Spain.

Now he heads for the Catalunya Round with just two more events left on the truncated calendar – at Magny-Cours in France then Estoril in Portugal.

“It will be an interesting challenge on a new circuit for us,” said Davies, who spent two days testing at the track in July.

“We collected important data in the test and the feelings were encouraging.

“On paper, it could be a positive circuit for Ducati. I’m confident I can do well and extend the trend of positive results after the three podiums obtained in Aragon”.

Davies is fourth in the Championship standings for Aruba.it Racing Ducati with 141 points – 102 points behind Kawasaki’s reigning champ Jonathan Rea.
