Charlotte Carey And Callum Evans Chase Euro Honours In Spain

Charlotte Carey and Callum Evans will kick-off their European Championship adventure in Alicante on Tuesday with some tough assignments in the singles events. Carey goes into the championships ranked No. 39 in the women’s event and with a European ranking of 41. She is also teaming up with England’s Tin Tin Ho in the women’s doubles and Paul Drinkhall in the mixed doubles.

Charlotte Carey and Callum Evans will kick-off their European Championship adventure in Alicante on Tuesday with some tough assignments in the singles events.

Carey goes into the championships ranked No. 39 in the women’s event and with a European ranking of 41. She is also teaming up with England’s Tin Tin Ho in the women’s doubles and Paul Drinkhall in the mixed doubles.

The top 32 seeds go through to the main draw, although Carey is favoured to win her group as the top ranked player. She is due to face Belgium’s Lisa Lung (64th seed), Spain’s Sara Ramirez (77th seed) and Scotland’s Rebecca Plaistow (106th seed) and starts against Plaistow.

Evans, ranked 196 in the world and seeded at 101, is joined in Group 23 by the Swiss Lionel Weber (55th seed), Hungary’s Tamas Lakatos (56th seed) and Scotland’s Colin Dalgleish, who is placed one below him. He starts against Lakatos.

He will then combine forces with England’s Maria Tsaptsinos in the mixed doubles and Jersey’s Jordan Wykes in the men’s doubles. The event runs until 23 September.
