Welshman Ben Davies insists Great Britain are having positive thoughts about their bid to stay in the top tier of World Championship ice hockey.

Their next match is against Denmark and former Cardiff Devils forward Davies says: “If we play like we have done so far, I know we will make an impact here.

“We have plenty of positives to take from the first two games.

“We feel we gave Germany a really tough test and that proved we can compete at this level.

“The match against Canada game was something totally different. It was an experience to be out there on the ice with some of the best players in the world.

“Yes, we would like to have done better, but we gave everything we had in the tank.”

GB play Denmark tomorrow and they defeated France in a shootout before losing to Germany and have two points from two matches.

“Despite the Danes not having the best start, they will be another tough opposition for us,” said former Bishop of Llandaff School, Cardfiff pupil Davies, who now plays for Guildford Flames.

GB return to action tomorrow when they face Denmark (4.15pm local time, 3.15pm UK) in the Steel Arena.

Britain are playing in the top flight for the first time in 25 years and have lost their opening two matches, 3-1 against Olympic silver medalists Germany and 8-0 when they met number one seeds Canada.
