If you fancy watching old style ice hockey pop down to watch Cardiff Fire when they play Romford Raiders early next month.

It’s true Cardiff Devils have a high quality team playing at the highest level in the UK, but Fire have their place in the pecking order.

There were fights galore during Fire’s 7-3 win against Swindon Wildcats – and two hours 23 minutes in penalties. At one stage Fire had five players in the penalty box and it was getting full.

Fire are a wholehearted, committed group who won’t back down when the going gets tough.

They stand up for themselves and, when Swindon players opted for a physical approach, the Fire responded.

Swedish defenceman Viktor Langseth was thrown out for slashing – on a match penalty – while Swindon goalie Tyler Perrer was dismissed on a game misconduct penalty following a 2+2 for fighting.

Fire now have this weekend off from fixtures before returning to action against Romford Raiders on the first day in December.

Match stats:

Scorers, Fire: Stephen Deacon 2+1, Tamas Elias 2+0, Joe Morris 1+0, Ellis Sheppard 1+0, Jordan Powell 1+2, Tom Smith 0+1, Alan Armour 0+1, Ross Wilkinson 0+1, Josh Haslam 0+1.
