Stephen Dixon is the third new face to join the Devils as they prepare to defend their Elite League and play-off titles.

Forward Dixon played the last two seasons in Germany’s top league (DEL) for Grizzlys Wolfsburg, playing in 52 games last season, scoring five goals and 14 assists.

He added another three goals and four assists for seven points in seven play-off games to finish off the season before his team lost to Eisbaren Berlin in the quarter-finals.

Prior to his time in Germany, Dixon spent eight seasons in some of Europe’s top leagues including two years in the KHL, four years in Finland’s top league and two in the Swedish Elite League.

He has represented Canada on the International stage in four separate tournaments over his impressive professional career and at the age of 32, he was lured to South Wales for the opportunity to compete for silverware and to take his MBA at Cardiff Met University.

“Stephen is a solid two-way centre who has performed in Europe’s top leagues for the last decade,” says Devils coach Andrew Lord.

“He is a great skater, which he would need to be to stick in leagues like the KHL, Finnish Elite or Swedish Elite Leagues and is a proven winner.

“We expect him to be an impact player in Elite League and somebody Devils’ fan are going to love.”

Before turning pro, Dixon played four seasons for Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, captaining the Quebec Major Junior League side in his final year.

Dixon, drafted by NHL team Pittsburgh Penguins in 2003, also represented Canada at the World Junior Championships, winning gold in 2005.
