Big Weekend Of Euro Hockey For Welsh Clubs

Swansea Spartans, Whitchurch HC and Cardiff University Ladies are all in EuroHockey Club Challenge action this weekend. Swansea Spartans head to Edinburgh for the Challenge I competition where they will face host club Edinburgh University, Russian side HC Metrostroy and Swiss hockey club Rottweiss Wettingen in Pool A.

Swansea Spartans head to Edinburgh for the Challenge I competition where they will face host club Edinburgh University, Russian side HC Metrostroy and Swiss hockey club Rottweiss Wettingen in Pool A.

“After a positive season we are really looking forward to travelling to Edinburgh. If we can take our league form into this tournament, finishing top two in our group and having a shot at promotion is certainly a realistic aim,” said Swansea Spartan, Carys Hopkins.

The EuroHockey Club Challenge I Women in Edinburgh will be live-streamed, so you can tune in between 18/05/2018 – 21/05/2018 to catch all the action LIVE via https://www.eurohockeytv.org/

The Whitchurch HC men’s team launched their European campaign in Lipovci, Slovnia on Thursday with a narrow 3-2 defeat to Croatian club Zelina. They now face a Turkish cub in their final pool match.

“We’ve put together some really good performances in the second half of the season and preparations have been going well.  We will hopefully be looking to put in a few more big performances and hopefully get promoted back into Club Challenge I,” said Whitchurch HC player Rob Williams.

Cardiff University’s women’s team have travelled to the Austrian capital Vienna for their EuroHockey Club Challenge III competition. Their opponents in Pool B are Copenhagen HC, Portuguese side Grupo Desportivo do Viso and Croatia’ Zelina. Final games take place on 21st May with pool games played 18th – 20th May.
