Ben Kellaway And Alex Horton Sign New Deals For Glamorgan

Batting all-rounder Ben Kellaway has signed a three-year contract extension that will see him extend his stay at Glamorgan until at least 2026.

The 19-year-old from Newport burst onto the scene this year, making his debut for the Club in all three formats, and having a stunning showing in the Metro Bank One Day Cup earlier this year.

Having made his T20 debut against local rivals Gloucestershire after impressing in the 2nd XI, he then made his List A debut against Worcestershire and didn’t look back, making a composed 82 on debut.

He then lit up the rest of the tournament with both bat and ball, including a rapid half-century and capturing three wickets against Warwickshire in Neath. He scored 195 runs and took 13 wickets in the competition.

Kellaway was then rewarded with his first-class debut against Worcestershire.

“It has been a really special first year at the club and I am just really excited to be continuing my journey over the next couple of years,” said Kellaway.

“It was quite surreal last year. The targets I set myself early on have been exceeded pretty well, I would say, but there is work to do. Making my debut in each format was the highlight of my whole season.

“I’m looking forward to next year and hopefully getting more opportunities to contribute to the team.

Glamorgan director of cricket Mark Wallace said: “Ben has already enjoyed some success in his short career at the club and we’re delighted that he’s re-signed at the club for the next three years.

“Ben will balance University with his time with us and we look forward to him continuing his development here moving forward.”

Kellaway’s fellow 19-year-old, wicketkeeper-batter Alex Horton, has also penned a new one-year contract extension with Glamorgan that will see him remain at the club until at least 2025.

Horton, also from Newport, signed his original deal as a 16-year-old, and the academy product has since made his debut in both T20 and List A cricket.

He has played seven List A games and four T20 games for Glamorgan, most notably hitting a match-winning 44 not out off 25 balls in the Metro Bank One Day Cup win against Northamptonshire.

Wallace added: “It’s great news that Alex has re-signed for the next two years.

“We are very lucky with the wicketkeepers we have at the club and we look forward to seeing Alex continue to develop his talent here over the next few years.”
