A brand new 10K race will add an exciting extra dimension to the inaugural ABP Newport Wales Marathon on April 29, 2018.

The ABP Newport Wales 10K will offer runners of all abilities the opportunity to get involved in a new era for distance running in Wales without taking on the full 26.2 mile distance.

The 10K will begin at 9:45am, just after thousands cross the marathon start-line to take-on the flat, fast course next spring.

When the starting gun sounds, runners will follow in the footsteps of marathon runners heading eastwards, before looping around Spytty Park and the iconic Transporter Bridge ahead of a grandstand finish in the city-centre.

Around 10,000 runners are expected to get involved over a festival weekend of running. Marathon entries are flying out fast – with over 4,500 entries now sold for Wales’ new premier endurance running event.

Entries for the 10K start at only £21, which includes a technical finishers t-shirt, bespoke medal and goody bag.

Running enthusiasts now also have the chance to enter a trio of Run 4 Wales events at a discounted price.

A new season ticket initiative will offer entry to the the ABP Newport Wales 10K as well as the popular Cardiff Bay Run and a brand new South Wales based 10K race set to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Run 4 Wales Chief Executive, Matt Newman, said: “The ABP Newport Wales Marathon will bring a much anticipated 26.2 mile mass-participation event to Wales on April 29, 2018.

“We want the weekend to be a true celebration of running, and the ABP Newport Wales 10K will give people of all ages and abilities the chance to be a part of a historic weekend for running in Wales without having to complete the challenging marathon distance.

“The launch of our new season ticket offers a fantastic discount for runners who regularly challenge themselves at Run 4 Wales events, or for those wanting a new challenge to kickoff the new year.”

The NSPCC – who were recently unveiled as Lead Charity Partner to the ABP Newport Wales Marathon and 10K – are also giving a lucky few entry to the 10K for just £1. The first 50 to sign up and pledge to raise £200 for the UK’s leading children’s charity will be able to enter for a single pound, rising to £10 thereafter.

Registration for the ABP Newport Wales 10K will open tomorrow (Tuesday 28th November). Pre-register at http://bit.ly/Newport10K and be notified as soon as entries open or find out more at www.newportwalesmarathon.co.uk.

1,000 season tickets, priced at just £59 (a £10 overall saving) will launch in December and are expected to sell-out fast. Runners can pre-register for priority access at http://bit.ly/R4W10KSeries
