Cardiff Devils fans have their chance to launch the 2018-19 ice hockey season in style on Friday evening.

Elite League champions Devils are hosting a film premiere of the documentary on Scott Matzka called ‘MY TURN, THE FILM’.

It will be shown on the big screens in the Ice Arena Wales main arena where the memorable Matchka hockey match took place back in October 2016.

Devils have ensured plenty of hype around the occasion by promising to announce a new signing during the evening.

Those fans present will be the first to know who the new guy is. He is certain to be a high quality player, perhaps the replacement for Andrew Hotham after his decision to retire?

Tickets for the ‘My Turn, The Film’ evening are £10 each – all ages are welcome – and money raised will go to the Matzka Fund to support Scott and his family.

Former Devils centre Scott has also asked Devils to donate a portion of the money to the Cardiff and Vale branch of the Motor Neuron Disease Association (mnda-cardiffandvale.org.uk).

Scott’s wife, Catie, will be in Cardiff for the premiere and Devils want to pack IAW in support of Scott and his battle against ALS (Motor Neuron Disease). Learn more about Scott and his story HERE

IAW doors will open at 6pm with the main bar open, while the film will start at 7pm.

CLICK HERE to book your tickets online or buy them in person from reception at Ice Arena Wales or the Devils merchandise shop at the arena (Bayside Sports).

There is a small booking fee that is passed onto the purchaser through the ticketing software, but this is not going towards the Devils.

Can you decide where the new signing to be announced on Friday could be?

Head coach has three out and out defencemen in Mark Louis, Mark Richardson and Gleason Fournier.

Andrew Hotham has retired and Drew Paris has moved on to Karlskrona HK in Sweden, while there are three vacancies on the blue line.

There has been no announcement in Tyson Strachan or Bryce Reddick so far, but Devils need at least one new player on D no matter what happens.

Mike Hedden is the only new player so far, but there are certain to be more even though Lord will stick with the core of a team who have been the best team in British hockey for two seasons.

You can be the first to know who the new signing is – buy your ticket for ‘My Turn, The Film.’
