'Mo' Meets 'Mo' In Pro Allstars Charity Ice Hockey Match

Cardiff Devils captain Jake Morissette is ready to link up with master playmaker Steve Moria for an ice hockey challenge.

‘Mo’ and ‘Mo’ will ice alongside each other for the Pro Allstars game at Ice Arena Wales on Friday, July 28 (7.30pm).

Former Devils players Jason Stone, Nicky Chinn and Robbie Morris will also join team captains Ian Cooper and Max Birbraer on the team benches in a match which opens the UK Charity Allstars weekend.

‘Stoney’ and ‘Chinny’ were the first Cardiff-trained players to represent the Devils, making their debuts in the 1988-89 promotion-winning season and going on to achieve great success over the next few decades.

Stone’s remarkable career saw his number 10 jersey retired in recognition of his 22 years Devils service, spanning more than 1,100 games.

He played a major role for Devils in their league and playoff championship triumphs, was named as Best British Defenceman in the Championship-winning season of the inaugural Superleague and was a Great Britain regular.

Chinn’s career has lasted a remarkable 29 years and includes 2016-17 as player-coach for Streatham and Milton Keynes in National League.

Morris spent three years playing for Devils, including the double-wining Premier League debut season. He is still involved in Cardiff ice hockey as one of the coaches in the junior programme.

Stone, Chinn and Morris are joined by Heineken League era stars David Heath, Brian Biddulph, Simon Hunt and Graham Waghorn.

Heath was a mainstay of the Slough Jets for more than 12 years, playing in over 400 games and scoring 500 points, while Biddulph’s career was split between Streatham, Slough, Medway, Lee Valley, Peterborough and Chelmsford.

Gritty winger Hunt spent his entire 12-year career with home-town club Nottingham, while his long-time Nottingham and GB teammate Waghorn was born in Canada before arriving at Panthers via Streatham.

Money raised will go to the Ice Hockey Players Benevolent Fund and SCIPs (Special Care Infant Parent Support) at the Neonatal Unit, Heath Hospital.
