Josh Adams Backed To Be The Centre Of Attention In Dublin

Wayne Pivac insists if Josh Adams can make the same impact as George North after his move to centre, then Wales will be well served against Ireland on Saturday. Adams will make his first Test match appearance in the centre  in Saturday’s Guinness Six Nations opener after 35 Wales starts as a wing. Adams, who was top try-scorer at the 2019 World Cup, would have featured there in the Autumn Nations Series appointment with Fiji this season, but he suffered an injury during the warm-up and did not start.

Josh Adams has forged himself a reputation as one of the best wings in world rugby, but he is prepared to add more strings to his bow. The Cardiff star has scored 17 tries in 34 Test matches for Wales and is one of the first names on Wayne Pivac’s team sheet. Centre is somewhat of a problem position for Pivac, and while the return of George North for the Six Nations will come as a huge boost, Wales need to develop more options especially in the number 13 jersey.

Josh Adams: No-One Expects Cardiff To Beat Toulouse . . . We Can Play Without Fear

Wales star Josh Adams wants Cardiff to show “no fear” in an odds-defying mission against European champions Toulouse on Saturday. The Heineken Champions Cup clash will take place amid a back-drop of 42 Cardiff players and staff being in isolation at a hotel just outside London until next week. The likes of Adams and his Cardiff and Wales team-mates Tomos Williams, Dillon Lewis, Seb Davies and Ellis Jenkins did not travel to South Africa, which became a UK Government red-listed country last month as fresh travel restrictions were imposed following the discovery of a new coronavirus variant.

Josh Adams has made a strong early case for inclusion in the Lions Test team to face South Africa later this month. The Wales wing maintained his hot streak as he scored four tries in the British & Irish Lions’ 56-14 win over the Sigma Lions in Johannesburg. The top try scorer at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, he won the right to tour with Warren Gatland’s Lions side in South Africa by scoring tries in his last three games for Wales as he helped them secure another Six Nations title.
