Pembrokeshire’s James Bowen had only two rides at Warwick in midweek and won on both of them  – an 89-1 double (writes Brian Lee).

Both were trained by fellow Welshman Christian Williams at Ogmore-By-Sea.

The double was initiated when six-year-old Fifty Shades, a 5-1 chance, won the handicap chase by a length from The Last Bridge, who was ridden by champion jockey Richard Johnson.

Fifty Shades’ stable-mate Conas Taoi finished a further one-and-a-quarter lengths back in third place.

Then, in the mares handicap hurdle, 14-1 shot Lace Bonnet got home by half-a-length from the lowly weighted Infiniti to make it a memorable day for trainer and rider.
