The Flat racing continues at Ffos Las on Thursday with day one of the Summer Flat Festival at Ffos Las.

Racing on the opening day of action gets underway at 2.25pm with a maiden stakes in class five before coming to a close at 5pm with a two-mile handicap in class six.

Here’s the latest tips and meeting preview from the Ffos Las card, courtesy of BoyleSports.

The opening race of the afternoon (2.25) sees a small field of five take on the maiden stakes, with the two-year-old runners taking centre stage.

Sir Palamedes was out of sorts in a valuable Newvury outing on his last spin having finished second at York prior to that and that run can hold him in good stead here. Kokabah for trainer Roger Varian rates the main danger off the back of a good third in a Nottingham maiden just over a fortnight ago.

It’s another small field for the second race on the card in the two-year-old Nursery contest in class six at 2.55.

Saytarr for trainer Charlie Fellowes showed much improvement when third in a well-run Nursery at Southwell 11 days ago and with cheekpieces on for the first time here, this looks well within range for a first win.

She Went Whoosh returns to six furlongs and is feared most here off the back of a third at Leicester last time out.

Race three on the Ffos Las card is another five-runner contest, this time over the seven furlong distance handicap in class six (3.25).

Daniel and Claire Kuber send Questionable back to Wales for this race and was back to form when second of five in a handicap at this track 23 days ago, so should be bang up there once again.

Beeley, for trainers John and Thady Gosden, sets the clear standard in race four of Thursday’s card as seven runners take on one mile and three furlong novice stakes in class four (3.55).

The three-year-old found only one to good for for the fourth time in five starts and can go one better here but he will have to keep an eye on William Walton, a whopping 725,000 Guineas buy and brother to top-class mile and a half winner Waldgiest, so commands immediate respect for trainer Owen Burrows.

The penultimate race on the Ffos Las card sees nine runners head to the start for the one mile and two furlong handicap (4.25) in class six.

Zambezi Magic for trainer Bernard Llewellyn loves Ffos Las, a three-time winner at this track with the latest of them coming in July, before another second here to follow up, so sets a very high bar for the rest of the field to match.

Finally, the card comes to a close with the two-mile handicap in class six (5.00) and preference in the finale heads to Tarbat Ness, a previous course and distance winner who arrives off a decent sixth of 12 in a Carlisle handicap last time out.

Of his rivals, Triple Nickle rates the chief threat, a good second over course and distance 43 days ago after missing the break at the start.
