Chepstow Racecourse: Preview And Tips For Thursday’s Six-Race Card

The action continues at Chepstow Racecourse this week with a competitive six-race card on the Flat on Thursday afternoon at the track.

Racing gets underway at 2.10 with a seven-runner handicap for apprentice jockeys in class six before the meeting comes to a close with an eight-runner handicap in class six at 5.05 to bring the curtain down on the card.

The opening contest on the card (2.10) sees seven horses head to the start for the six furlong handicap for runners aged four and upwards.

Hannah’s Return produced a career-best last time out when landing a Brighton handicap and is taken to follow up here for trainer Gary Brown.

Of her rivals, course and distance scorer Bama Lama rates the main danger having proved ultra-consistent at this level.

Race two on the card (2.45) sees ten runners head to post for the restricted maiden fillies’ stakes in class five over six furlongs.

There is a lot to like on paper for debutant Missile Mac from the George Boughey yard, a half-sister to several winners over five furlongs and six furlongs.

Those with racecourse experience here don’t set a particularly high standard, so another newcomer in Sahara Dancer could be the one to take Boughey’s charge on.

Ten runners will tackle race three of the afternoon with a sharp five furlong nursery contest at 3.20 and there are a few in with a shout.

Chief among them is Lady Luzon, second at Musselburgh a fortnight ago and is running here off the same mark so looks well-treated by the handicapper.

Raison D’etre and Brightwalton were first and second at Sandown 20 days ago and there won’t be much between them again here as they re-oppose.

Beautiful Crown for trainer Jack Jones looks the one to beat in race four on the card (3.55) with three wins from five this year, including one at this track and was a cosy winner last time out at Chelmsford.

He’s under a penalty here but still holds big claims from another in-form runner in Kalama Sunrise, with four wins from eight this year and has also been successful at Chepstow before.

Race five on the Chepstow card is the penultimate contest of the afternoon at 4.30 and ten runners will take on the seven furlong handicap in class six for horses aged four and older.

Preference here heads to Flying Secret, who is sliding down the weights after a run of 11 races without a win since 2023 but has headgear applied here and is very much of interest off a low mark.

Soi Dao is of interest as well, a previous course winner including a respectable third of eight in a handicap at Windsor just under three weeks ago.

Finally, the card comes to a close with the eight-runner class six handicap for three-year-old’s to round things off (5.05).

Frankie Vallance gets the nod in the finale with top jockey Hollie Doyle on board, third at Leicester back in June two starts ago and gets the decision ahead of Moe’s Legacy, who is in better form off the back of a third at Windsor last time out.
