Former Cardiff City and Wales midfield player Brian Flynn has been appointed to take charge of National League Wrexham.
Flynn has accepted the role of interim manager following the departure of Bryan Hughes, who left the club after a run of eight matches without a win.
He takes charge for Saturday’s home fixture against Kent club Ebbsfleet United and the trip to play Solihull Moors.
A statement issued by Wrexham said: “Wrexham AFC can confirm that assistant manager Brian Flynn will take interim charge for the next two games.
“Brian will be supported by the existing back-room staff.
“Wrexham AFC will be making no further comment at this stage.”
Flynn, aged 63, led the Dragons to promotion to the Second Division after being appointed player-manager in 1989.
The Port Talbot-born coach was in charge at Wrexham for 12 years and they won the Welsh Cup three times, gaining entry to the European Cup Winners Cup.
When he left Wrexham, Flynn was the third longest serving manager behind Sir Alex Ferguson and Dario Gradi.
