What's on in Wales

European rugby returns this weekend and for the Welsh regions that means some meaty opening fixtures just days after Wales were given a braai roasting from South Africa.

The Scarlets are the only Welsh team in the main event, the European Champions Cup, and they start their campaign at home to Bristol Bears on Saturday night.

Earlier that same day, Cardiff begin their European Challenge Cup adventure in Paris, where they play Stade Francais.

The other two Welsh regions are also in the second tier European Challenge Cup and play on Sunday – the Dragons at Perpignan and the Ospreys at home to Connacht.

Snooker’s UK Championship is also in full flow this week, with Mark Williams flying the flag for Wales – as well as the over 50s – in York.
