It’s looking bleak for Newport County, but if ever they could do themselves a big favour with a big shock, then it’s this week.

Christian Fuchs’ strugglers are bottom of League Two with 21 points from 31 matches, meaning they are now five points from safety.

On Tuesday night, they go to promotion-chasing Salford City – the plaything of Gary Neville and David Beckham  - in desperate need of points.

With only 15 games to go, the Great Escape 2 has to start soon, otherwise it’s just not going to happen.

There is plenty of Welsh football interest elsewhere on the same night, with Cardiff City at home to Wimbledon in League One and Wrexham away to Bristol City in the Championship.
