Neil Harris has told Sol Bamba he is going nowhere and hailed the influence of Lee Tomlin after Cardiff City revived their promotion challenge by beating Championship leaders West Brom. An exquisite free-kick by Tomlin earned the Bluebirds a 2-1 victory at the Cardiff City Stadium, where Bamba was among the unused substitutes hours after suggesting in a TV interview that he may look to go out on loan with three days left of the transfer window. Harris has admitted he was taken aback by Bamba’s suggestion on Sky Sports News but insisted he intends to keep the veteran defender – who missed the first three months of the season through injury – at the club.
Neil Harris has ordered his Cardiff City side to be more ruthless as they bid to undermine West Bromwich Albion’s promotion bid tonight – and ignite their own. The Bluebirds host the Baggies, with Harris insisting his team must make more of their opportunities than they did in their 1-1 draw at Reading last weekend in the FA Cup. West Brom find themselves in the peculiar position of being top of the Championship, but are without a win in their last six league games.
Cardiff City (u-18) 5, Colchester United (u-18) 4 Terrific ‘Taz’ clinched victory for the Bluebirds’ under-18 team to victory in a nine-goal thriller at Cardiff Sports Campus. Ntazana Mayembe fired the winner after 81 minutes after the visitors had stunned Cardiff City by scoring four goals in 13 first half minutes – three of those […]
Neil Harris has blamed modern society for obscene chanting from Cardiff City fans during the 1-1 FA Cup draw at Reading. As play continued during the first half, an announcement was made over the public address, warning the “away fans” to desist from their alleged racist and homophobic behaviour. Cardiff later posted a statement on their official website which read: “Cardiff are aware of the allegations made against visiting supporters at the FA Cup tie at Reading.
Callum Paterson is hoping an extended run in the FA Cup with Cardiff City can make up for his bitter disappointment in missing out on a League Cup final with Hearts. The Scottish international was injured in a freak accident the day before the semi-final clash with Inverness seven years ago and had to undergo foot surgery as a result. Hearts reached the final, but were beaten 3-2 by St Mirren.
Coventry City 1, Cardiff City 1 Sam Bowen, the teenage son of form Bluebirds midfield player Jason, scored for Cardiff City in their 1-1 Professional under-23 Development League draw against Coventry City at the Alan Higgs Centre. Cardiff City chairman Ken Choo has said the first anniversary of the death of Emiliano Sala is a time to remember the player, while insisting he has no regrets about the actions of the club since. Cardiff and Nantes will pay tribute to Sala one year on from the plane crash which claimed his life at the age of 28, with the clubs still locked in a legal dispute over his transfer fee. On January 21, 2019, the Piper Malibu light aircraft carrying Sala and pilot David Ibbotson from France to the UK crashed into the English Channel, as he prepared to link up with his new team-mates.

The Bluebirds, Cardiff Blues, Glamorgan Cricket Club and Devils will all be represented on a Question of Sport evening at the venue in Charles Street. Neil Harris claimed Cardiff City were denied a penalty and Birmingham City should have been reduced to 10-men during their 1-1 draw at St. Andrews. The draw – Cardiff’s sixth in their last nine games – leaves the Bluebirds five points adrift of the play-off places and left manager Harris again frustrated. Harris claimed a penalty should have been awarded for Marc Roberts’s challenge on Lee Tomlin in the 56th minute.
Neil Harris has claimed the deadline day transfer scramble is a made-for-TV event that prevents more deals going through than it smooths. The Cardiff City manager is still to make a single signing in January with more than half the month gone before deadline day on January 31. Harris says he wants to add three players to his group to enhance the Bluebirds’ chances of launching a play-off surge, but says the window is geared towards television drama, rather than actually trading players.
Oli McBurnie has been given the green light to continue his love affair with Swansea City. Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says he can relate to his player after the striker was spotted taunting Cardiff fans while watching the Swans last week. Wilder has reminded McBurnie of his responsibilities but says it was refreshing to see a Premier League player still touch with his footballing roots.
Neil Harris admitted he was looking for something more comfortable than Cardiff City’s thrilling 4-3 replay victory at Carlisle in the FA Cup. Aden Flint scored twice to secure the Bluebirds a fourth-round tie at Championship rivals Reading, but League Two strugglers Carlisle gave them a scare along the way. Carlisle shocked their visitors with an early goal by Nathan Thomas, but Cardiff quickly struck back with Flint scoring twice either side of Josh Murphy’s effort.
