Disgruntled home fans vented their displeasure following Saints’ sixth successive Premier League defeat, with the full-time jeers followed by chants of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’, […]
By Paul Jones Brennan Johnson proved once again that he is the man to lead Wales into a new era, following the team’s disappointing World Cup appearance in Qatar. The poor World Cup showing saw Wales drop down form 19th to 28th in the latest FIFA World Rankings, after picking up just one point in […]
Brennan Johnson insists Wales can shock England and keep their World Cup dream alive. Wales’ hopes of making the knockout stages were left hanging by a thread after losing 2-0 to Iran. England’s goalless draw with the United States on Friday night means that Wales still have a path to the round of 16, but qualification is out of their own hands unless they beat Gareth Southgate’s side by a four-goal margin.
Wales international Brennan Johnson has signed a new four-year contract with Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest. Johnson, 21, scored 19 goals for Forest last season to help them earn promotion via the play-offs and reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Rob Page praised the blossoming talent of Brennan Johnson after the Wales striker scored his first international goal to earn a 1-1 draw with Belgium. Wales’ potential World Cup play-off opponents, Scotland, are praying captain Andy Robertson comes through the Champions League final unscathed on Saturday. Robertson is expected to start for Liverpool against Real Madrid in Paris for what could be the Reds’ seventh Champions League win or Madrid’s 14th. The left-back will line up for the Reds in Europe’s showpiece match on Saturday, meaning he will not join up with the national squad until Sunday or Monday.
Wales may be about to have their first shot at World Cup glory in 64 years, but manager Robert Page, is already looking to a future built around the likes of Bennan Johnson. As Page prepares for the do-or-die play-off against either Scotland or Ukraine, he also has a mind on the younger generation. The caretaker boss – whose own deal with Wales only runs as far as the end of the World Cup campaign – has heaped praise on fit-again Kieffer Moore, and believes he can bring something different to the team, but has stressed the importance of preparing the younger players in the squad for the future of Welsh football.

We’re less than three weeks away from Wales men’s golden opportunity to end 64 years of hurt by qualifying for a World Cup, and there remain a host of Rusmfeldian “known unknowns” in play.
