Jayne Ludlow, Andrew Bishop, Tomos Williams and Gemma Evans have all represented Wales in sports they first played at school in Treorchy. For the second year in a row it was the parents of the main prize winner who stole the show as Howell Thomas and Hilary Thomas stepped in for their son Geraint to carry off the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year award. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were at the Celtic Manor Resort at the Wales Sport Awards on Tuesday night to stand-in for their son. In 2017, it was the parents of the then injured Jonathan Davies who came forward to receive the trophy for their famous offspring. They brought the house down, as did the Thomases.

England To Hold Talks With Warren Gatland

Warren Gatland is to be approached by England about moving next-door when his time with Wales comes to an end. RFU interim chief Nigel Melville has revealed he plans to talk to Gatland about taking over from Eddie Jones when the current England coach steps down. Gatland finishes with Wales after next year’s World Cup, whilst Jones has a contract until 2021, although that deal is subject to review following the tournament in Japan next September.

Joe Ralls’ Job Goes To Victor Camarasa As Cardiff City Fail Again To Back Up Their Home Form

Joe Ralls will be replaced by Victor Camarasa as Cardiff City’s penalty taker following the costly miss during the Bluebirds’ 3-1 defeat at West Ham on Tuesday night. Ralls’ poorly-struck spot-kick was comfortably saved by former Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski when the game was scoreless before the Hammers went on to score three times in 12 minutes just after the break. Cardiff manager Neil Warnock was loath to criticise Ralls too harshly, but confirmed that the job would now be done by Camarasa in future after the Spaniard had lobbied to take the kick at the London Stadium.
