Wales Begin Women’s Euro 2021 Qualifying Preparations With Italian Job

Wales have lined up four friendly games as part of their preparations for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2021 qualifiers. Jayne Ludlow’s squad will open the year with a tough trip to Italy on January 22 before facing the Republic of Ireland as part of warm-weather training camp in Malaga, Spain on February 28.

Wales will then play their first games at home since seeing their World Cup dream ended by England in Newport with two games against the Czech Republic on April 4 and 7.

Ludlow has opted for a training camp next year instead of competing in the Cyprus Cup.

“We’ve gone for a warm weather camp in February as I think it’ll help our development better than a mini-tournament.,” said Ludlow, who in Tuesday won the Coach of the Year at the 2018 Welsh Sports Awards.

“The opposition we’re facing over the next few months are tough but beatable. it’s a great chance to try different tactical options before going into the next campaign.

Wales will be aiming to avenge their 3-0 defeat against the Azzurri in last year’s Cyprus Cup when they travel to Italy next month.

The venue for the game, as for the other matches, is yet to be confirmed.
