Wales Are Nowhere Near Their Peak, Says Stuart Barnes

Wales have been described as a team “nowhere near their peak” by former England No.10 turned pundit Stuart Barnes. Assessing the fall-out from Wales’ stunning 21-13 victory over England last weekend, the Sky Sports analyst has claimed Wales have more to deliver in World Cup year. Warren Gatland’s team face remaining Six Nations matches away to Scotland and at home to Ireland. If they win both, they will stretch their record run to 14 matches and secure a third Grand Slam during the New Zealander’s coaching era.

Cardiff’s Aron Gunnarsson Insists The Stick Given To Everton Pal Gylfi Sigurdsson Leaves Him Bemused

Aron Gunnarsson has pinpointed Gylfi Sigurdsson as Everton’s biggest threat to Cardiff City tonight – and says he cannot understand some of the criticism given to his Iceland teammate. The two countrymen are set to face each other at the Cardiff City Stadium where the Bluebirds are desperate for points and to make amends for their 5-1 thrashing at home to Watford last Friday. Sigurdsson scored the only goal of the game when the clubs met at Goodison Park in November, but the former Swansea City playmaker has not convinced a section of his club’s fans since his £45m move 18 months ago.

Dan Biggar Insists Wales Will Peak At World Cup . . . Not With Another Six Nations Title

Dan Biggar believes there is more to come from this Wales team, but would regard a Grand Slam as the first part of a fitting two-part leaving gift for Warren Gatland. The Wales replacement – who steered his team to victory with a masterful 20-minute cameo against England on Saturday – believes the peaking of his team’s powers should come in the autumn at the World Cup in Japan, rather than in their next two games. Wales have already gone on a record-breaking run of 12 successive victories, but the Northampton No.10, who came on for Gareth Anscombe in Saturday’s 21-13 victory, says they can still improve.
