Jasmine Joyce Has England In Her Sights After Another Stunning Try . . . And The Elinor Snowsill Back Heel Isn’t Bad, Either

Jasmine Joyce has her sights set on England after marking her Barbarians debut with a stunning four-try display. The Wales wing – who was part of the Great Britain Olympic women’s Sevens squad that played in Rio de Janiero in 2016 – could also be back in the short form of the game this summer. Wales are bidding to qualify for the Sevens World Series with qualifiers due to start at the end of June. Before then – on June 2 – the Baa Baas face England at Twickenham where Joyce could be looking to add to her hugely impressive strike rate.

Sharks Fail To Show Their Bite Against South Wales Warriors

The South Wales Warriors have opened their four month long season with a win from their furthest away trip. The Warriors made the six hour, 400 mile round trip to face the Cornish Sharks at their new home at Newquay Football Club’s Mount Wise Stadium which the tenants have nicknamed the Shark Tank. But the Warriors emerged unscathed from swimming with Sharks who failed to show their bite as they were shutout by the Welshmen who scored via the offence, special teams and defence in the first quarter.

Robin McBryde Joins Familiar Route To Ireland With Leinster

Leinster have confirmed they have recruited Wales forwards coach Robin McBryde who will join them after the World Cup. The Irish province are hiring McBryde as one of their assistant coaches to work under head coach Leo Cullen from October when Wales will return from Japan. McBryde will replace John Fogarty who is leaving to become Ireland’s scrum coach.

Mark Williams To Seek More Health Checks After World Champion Bows Out

Mark Williams has praised the NHS but revealed he needs more treatment after bowing out of the snooker World Championship in Sheffield. The defending champion was beaten 13-9 by David Gilbert on Saturday in the last 16 of the tournament just hours after being released from hospital. Williams had complained of chest pains on Friday night and remained in accident and emergency until after 11pm before doctors allowed him to return to his hotel.

Merger Mates Face Europe Showdown As Allen Clarke Insists Ospreys Deserve It

Ospreys coach Allen Clarke praised his Heineken Champions Cup chasers as he claimed they deserved their play-off showdown with the Scarlets. The two regions – who were encouraged by the WRU to merge earlier this year – will instead go head-to-head at the Liberty Stadium on May 17 or 18  for the right to play in Europe’s top tier next season. The Ospreys earned their place by finishing fourth in Conference A of the Guinness Pro 14 after a 26-23 victory over the Cardiff Blues in their Judgement Day meeting at the Principality Stadium.
