Girls Golf Cymru Set To Tee Off

Welsh girls between the ages of 6-18 will get the chance to learn golf through the new Girls Golf Cymru scheme launched by Wales Golf. Girls-only coaching sessions, with the emphasis on fun, social and friendship aspects, will be delivered by clubs across Wales. Statistics show 13per cent of golf membership are female and Wales Golf wants to help more women and girls into the sport so it can truly become ‘Everyone’s Game, Anywhere.’

Welsh Golf Clubs Show Membership Boost

Golf clubs in Wales are increasing membership, bucking international trends, according to the latest Wales Golf Clubs Survey. It shows roughly a third of clubs have gained members – and more than double the numbers than at another third of clubs where membership is falling, while the final third of clubs retained a stable membership.

James Williams Impresses On Hyundai i20 R5 Test

British Junior Rally Championship frontrunner James Williams showed impressive pace and skill when he was invited to test a Hyundai i20 R5 rally car for the first time. Having previously rallied front-wheel drive Opel Adam and Ford Fiesta R2s, the Newcastle Emlyn youngster was invited by the Hyundai Customer Racing team to test the much more powerful four-wheel drive machine in Kielder forest. The car was in fact the same one in which fellow Welsh driver Tom Cave had won last weekend’s Pirelli International Rally.

Warren Gatland has denied being approached by England to take over from Eddie Jones after the World Cup.
