Wales Rugby League CEO Gareth Kear has taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 rugby league season in Wales with immediate effect. This decision was taken after consulting all of the community rugby league clubs in an emergency meeting held on Tuesday night, and the WRL board have been informed.
Former Wales international Bethan Lewis has been appointed to the board of Tennis Wales. Lewis, who won national honours at both junior and senior level in the early 2000s, will join as a director next month and brings wide experience as both a player and a communications consultant. A director of Brandrocker, a South Wales-based public relations company, Lewis will join the board in October as they seek to implement their new strategy to “open up” the sport in Wales.

Cardiff City’s decision to sack Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is the second time in his career he has left a club in mysterious circumstances. The Bluebirds parted company with their winger abruptly on Wednesday afternoon for an alleged breach of contract. The 28-year-old was only eight games short of his century of appearances for the Welsh capital club having joined them from Rochdale in 2017.
