Aaron Ramsey Set For Juve Return After Missing Wales Double Header

Aaron Ramsey is set to return for Juventus this weekend – less than week after missing Wales’ Euro 2020 qualifier against Croatia because of injury. The Wales midfielder has trained with his Italian club and is in contention to return from a groin injury to face Genoa in Turin on Saturday. That will be a mixed blessing for Wales manager Ryan Giggs, who must now hope Ramsey can sustain fitness until Wales’ decisive final qualifiers in Azerbaijan on November 16 and at home to Hungary three days later.

Joe Allen Admits He Saw Red Before Yellow . . . But Still Insists Wales Can Earn Euro Green Light

Joe Allen had admitted his regret at the yellow card that will cost him a chance to help put Wales a step nearer Euro 2020 qualification – but still backs Wales to do the job in Azerbaijan. Allen will miss the crunch clash in Baku on November 16 after being booked in the 1-1 home draw against Croatia on Sunday. The influential Stoke City midfielder was cautioned four minutes from time and his third yellow card of the competition means he must sit out the penultimate qualifier.

Ryan Giggs Needs Two Wins – And A Helping Hand – To Call This Campaign A Success

Wales are still in the mix for qualification for the finals of Euro 2020, but for first time in this campaign, the outcome is no longer in their own hands. For Ryan Giggs, crunch time is almost here – for both himself and his team, as Kasey Rees reports. Under the bright floodlights of a clear autumn night at the Cardiff City Stadium, in front of thousands of passionate home fans, Wales manager Ryan Giggs proved good on his vow to take this European qualification campaign to the final matches. A 1-1- draw with Croatia leaves Wales still with a reasonable chance of qualification, although they are now depending on other results to fall in their favour.

Gareth Bale Gives Wales Just Enough Hope For A November To Remember

Ryan Giggs says he was pleased with the performance after Wales stretched their unbeaten run at home to five games on Sunday night – coming from behind to claim a 1-1 draw with Croatia at the Cardiff City Stadium. Nikola Vlasic opened the scoring with a first time low shot just outside the box, moments after Dan James seemed to have been fouled by Dejan Lovren. But Gareth Bale netted the equaliser deep into stoppage time at the end of the first half, after a lovely through ball by Ben Davies, to leave Wales four points off second placed Hungary with two games left.

Splash And Grab . . . Ryan Giggs Backs Kieffer Moore To Pull Wales To The Surface

Former lifeguard Kieffer Moore can be the man to pull Wales up from the depths of their Euro qualification pool, according to manager Ryan Giggs. Moore scored on his competitive international debut, even though the striker’s opener was not enough to give Wales all the points as Slovakia made it 1-1 in Trnava. The Wigan striker headed Wales into a first-half lead before Juraj Kucka equalised after the interval to earn the Slovaks a point.

Talking A Good Game . . . Why Wales Women Are Mastering The Mother Tongue

Language has always been important in sport. Major, multinational football clubs often mean dressing room conversations in different tongues, while national sides bond around something more singular. Wales’ women’s team recently announced many of their players would be brushing up on their Welsh language skills as they seek to gain an even closer understanding with their squad, as Graham Thomas reports. When Angharad James wants make a tactical point to teammate Natasha Harding, it’s not a surprise she talks to her in Welsh. In fact, like every international footballer, James is determined to maximize all advantages and is anxious for more players in the national team to communicate in the language.
