April 11, 1999 is a date that has been immortalised in the annals of Welsh rugby history. Playing at ‘home’ at Wembley, Scott Gibbs scored one of the most celebrated tries ever scored by a Wales player, as they denied England the Grand Slam in the last ever Five Nations Championship. It took a steel-nerved Neil Jenkins conversion to complete the 32-31 victory for Wales, which prompted scenes of wild celebration among fans in the stadium and across the nation, and handed the Championship to Scotland.
