Flankers Alex Mann and Josh Macleod have both been recalled to start for Wales against Japan this weekend.
The back row pair are among 11 changes made by interim boss Matt Sherratt from the hefty Six Nations defeat to England at Principality Stadium in March - with Nicky Smith, Blair Murray, Taulupe Faletau and captain Dewi Lake the only men to retain their places from the 68-14 drubbing.
Smith and Lake are joined in the front row by Cardiff prop Keiron Assiratti for the first test at the Mikuni World Stadium as Wales seek to end a 17-match losing run.
Ben Carter and Teddy Williams start in the second row while the experienced Faletau joins Mann and Macleod - the latter making his first appearance for Wales since the 2022 Autumn Nations Series - in the back row.
Kieran Hardy and Sam Costelow are paired together at half-back.
Josh Adams and Tom Rogers start on the wings for the first Test as Ben Thomas and Johnny Williams operate at centre - with Scarlets' Murray at full-back.
Jac Morgan and Tomos Williams are both unavailable due to their involvement with the British and Irish Lions this summer.
“We've had a very good build-up. We tried to give everyone a fair chance of selection," said Sherratt.
“One of the key messages was it's going to be a 23-man job. So, we've tried to spread the experience out in terms of getting some experience coming off the bench.
“I think an 80-minute performance, that physical edge and making sure that we transfer training into the game is going to be the biggest thing for us.
“It's going to be humid. It's going to be hot. Japan traditionally play quite a fast brand of rugby, so us getting up to speed with that is going to be key.
“We've seen from just being around Kitakyushu this last week, there seems to be a real affinity between some of the Japanese locals and the Welsh team. Hopefully it will be fantastic on Saturday.”
Hooker Liam Belcher could make his debut off the bench as prop Archie Griffin, who missed the Six Nations due to injury, provides further front row cover among the replacements.
Wales - who are without a Test victory since October 2023 - face Eddie Jones' side in the second Test in Kobe on Saturday, July 12.
The match will be shown live on BBC One Wales and BBC iPlayer, with kick-off at 6am UK time.
