Jazz Joyce had a wonder try ruled out as Wales drew 3-3 in a tense Six Nations game against Italy in Lecce.
The Olympic sevens star fended off several attempted tackles after receiving the ball just outside her own 22-metre line in the 72-minute.
But what would have surely been one of the greatest tries in Welsh rugby history was ruled out by a TMO ruling that the overhead pass from Elinor Snowsill was a fraction forward.
Joyce’s joy at her astonishing run as she raced down the right touchline before cutting inside reaching the posts was quickly dashed by the ruling.
But the draw ended a run of five successive defeats for coach Rowland Phillips side.
And it ensured Wales bounced back from that record 52-2 defeat in Paris last week as they begin preparations for the visit of England to Cardiff on Sunday February 24.
Robyn Wilkins gave Wales a deserved lead after 37 minutes with a penalty with Michaela Sillari levelling the scores on the hour mark.
Wales battled against some fierce Italian attacking play to claim the draw with No 8 Siwan Lillicrap outstanding in the rearguard effort.
Snowshill won her 50th cap as a replacement while Italy missed a 81st minute chance to snatch victory as Sillari put the penaly wide.
