Kris Jones swapped a year of running around Scottish industrial estates for the Cardiff International Sports Campus track as he won Welsh Athletics’ Invitational 5,000m on Wednesday night. The Dundee-based Swansea Harrier was in winning form as he returned to Wales for the event organised as part of the sport’s journey back to competition. Jones won the 5,000m in an impressive 13.49.33 considering the cool, blustery conditions and small field at the elite-only event, restricted to limited numbers due to Covid-19.

Kyra Jones Is On The Comeback Trail . . . But Not In Wales

Kyra Jones has admitted she has a big test ahead of her after choosing to come out of retirement to resume her SuperLeague netball career. The former Wales international – who will be 36 in September – has joined Worcester-based Severn Stars who have lost another Wales international, Bethan Dyke, to a serious knee injury. Jones – who has proved a huge loss to the Celtic Dragons since opting to retire two years ago – has agreed a short-term arrangement to join the large Welsh contingent at Stars.
