Wales Rugby League U16s To Hold Open Trial

The Wales Rugby League under 16’s national team will be holding an open trial on Saturday June 2nd. The trial will take place at CCB Centre of Sporting Excellence, Caerphilly Rd, Ystrad Mynach.

The Wales Rugby League under 16’s national team will be holding an open trial on Saturday June 2nd.

The trial will take place at CCB Centre of Sporting Excellence, Caerphilly Rd, Ystrad Mynach.

All interested parties must pre-register for the event and will need to arrive for 10.15am on the day, any player who does not pre-register will not be eligible to trial on the day.

The trial will run from 10.45am through to 2pm and consist of a fitness and skills assessment in the morning and a series of full contact trial games in the afternoon.

Those players who are successful on the day will be invited to a final trial on Saturday 16th June at Ystrad Mynach where they will be joined by the players who are eligible to remain in the squad from 2017.

The final squad will then be announced in the week commencing 18th June and the 2018 international program will begin with a training session in South Wales (Venue TBC) on 30th June, followed by a three day training camp in Wigan on 19th – 21st July.

The international programme will run throughout August 2018 and comprise of three international camps (2nd-4th August – Venue/Fixture TBC and 14th-16th August Venue/Fixture TBC) culminating in a final camp on the 30th August – 1st September where Wales will take on England at home on Saturday 1st September (Venue TBC).

Wales made history in this fixture last year by beating England for the first time and will be looking to build on the success of 2017.

Important Notice: All trialists are expected to make themselves available for all dates if selected.

ALL PLAYERS must be under the age of 16 on the 1st September 2017 and be of current school year 10 or 11 in 2018.

To be eligible for Wales under 16s you must fulfil one of the following criteria

* Be born in Wales

* Resided in Wales for at least the last three years

* Have a Welsh parent or grandparent
