Undefeated Swansea boxer Jay Harris will face world title challenger Angel Moreno for the vacant European Boxing Union flyweight title at Cardiff’s Vale Sports Arena on June 1.

The Swansea fighter (15-0-KO8) has already won the Commonwealth crown and will be looking to add another major belt to his collection against Moreno (19-3-2-KO6), who was outpointed by WBC world champion Charlie Edwards last month.

The fight will be part of MTK Global’s latest Cardiff show and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and iFL TV.

Harris said: “I’m over the moon. Fighting for the prestigious EBU European title means everything to me.

“Winning this belt can unlock lots of doors for me and it’s brilliant that it’s in Cardiff. I’m hoping to get a good crowd down there and it should be a massive atmosphere.

“Moreno is a tough guy and I’m expecting a hard fight. We saw Moreno fight Charlie Edwards recently and Charlie boxed really well but Moreno was game as hell and kept coming forward constantly, so I’ll have to be on top form to beat him.

“It’s fantastic to be fighting on ESPN+ as well. I’m getting to show my skills to a wider audience and hopefully I can attract some new fans in America.”

The Vale Sports Arena is familiar ground for Harris, who beat Brett Fidoe at the venue on March 1.

MTK Global says the show will feature a host of other local and international talents to be announced shortly.
