Luke Williams powered to victory in the opening race of the SSAFA Cardiff 5K series. The San Domenico runner clocked 15 minutes 18 seconds over the new course near Blackweir.

Williams triumphed by 22 seconds from Jack Hope of Kettering Town Harriers with Ben Butler-Madden of Penarth & Dinas third in 16:02.

Lauren Cooper of the Parc Bryn Bach club won the women’s race in 16:45 also finishing 20th overall.

Cardiff’s Lucy Marland was second in 17:39 with Katie Beecher of Les Croupiers third in 19:80.

The next race in the series is on June 19th. The final one is July 24th.
