Wales won their opening match against Czech Republic 2-1 and are top of the group going into their third and final pool fixture against Russia on Wednesday (2pm).

Owain Dolan-Grey scored the lone first half goal. Wales led 1-0 at the break with the Swiss players defending well against steady pressure.

James Kyriakides and Carson added further goals, while the Welsh goals tally was completed by Carson (3), Kyriakides, Rupert Shipperley and Luke Hawker.

Czech Republic and Russia drew 1-1 in their pool match. Lukas Plochy fired the Czechs ahead with Mikhail Proskuriakov equalising.

“We couldn’t be happier,” said Wales captain Hawker. “The mood within the camp is really good as you’d expect coming off the back of a 9-0 performance.
