- Gerwyn Price Admits He’S At A Loss To Explain Final Blow Out To Michael Van Gerwen
Gerwyn Price admitted he was at a loss to fully explain his Premier League Darts final defeat to Michael van Gerwen.
Welshman Price had reached the final by hammering his World Cup teammate Jonny Clayton, 10-2, in the first semi-final of the night at the O2 Arena in London.
But Dutchman Van Gerwen delivered a masterful performance to beat Price 11-5 in the final to create Premier League history by winning his seventh title to move clear of the great Phil Taylor.
“The Iceman” Price melted away after getting back to 7-4 at one stage and said afterwards: “I just couldn’t find the trebles, the doubles, I couldn’t find anything, that’s how it goes sometimes.
“I’m gutted. I just felt this one is the one that got away, I was missing by so far, I wasn’t even close, I don’t know what happened.”
Price is still searching for his first title and a brilliant campaign, where he won four of the weekly rounds, ends in ultimate disappointment.
