- Ffion, , Gets On Her Bike To Go The Extra Mile For NHS Volunteers
A nine-year-old schoolgirl with cerebral palsy and epilepsy is determined to raise money for NHS charities through an epic cycle ride.
Ffion Davies from Johnstown, Carmarthen is aiming to cycle further than she has ever gone before on her specially adapted bike.
She hopes to raise as much money as possible to help volunteers working alongside NHS staff on the coronavirus crisis by undertaking a two-mile cycle challenge today (Thursday, April 2).
As a baby, Ffion had a Group B Strep Infection which caused meningitis and resulted in cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
She said: “I think the NHS are amazing! I have a trike with adapted peddles which allows me to cycle. I have never ridden this far but I am determined to do it.”
Ffion’s mum Yvonne said: “The NHS and all key workers are working so hard in terrible circumstances at the moment. We appreciate all they have done for us as a family.”
Ffion has set up a Just Giving page – www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ffiondb – and has already raised £455.
