Fast, Fiery Faryna The Second Cardiff Devils Signing Today

Justin Faryna, a fast and fiery Canadian forward, is an 11th signing for Cardiff Devils.

Head coach Andrew Lord announced defenceman Drew Paris this morning and has now followed that with the arrival of Faryna.

The man from Calgary, aged 26, spent the last two seasons playing for Dundee Stars, scoring 55 goals with 59 assists in 113 matches.

He is a player who will drop the gloves when needed, picking up 112 minutes in penalties, taking on the likes of Matt Nickerson, Jay Rosehill and Brian McGratten during his career.

Faryna came to the UK after three seasons with Rapid City Rush and made big impact with the Scottish club.

He was a major fans favourite in Dundee, producing strong and tenacious performances with a team first work ethic. Faryna is highly effective going forward and works hard when the opposition have possession.

Swedish player Mikael Lidhammar and Brett Switzer were Faryna’s line-mates for Stars, a trio known as the yellow line. An injury to Switzer led to coach Marc Lafebvre reshuffling his lines and Farina linked up with Scott Brannon, who had played alongside him for Rapid City in 2012.

The graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Superior also gained an MBA at the  University of Dundee, won four awards at the Dundee Stars presentation evening.

He is a big fan of his home-town NHL team Calgary Flames.

Faryna links up with his former Dundee team-mate Craig Moore in Cardiff.
