It has been a good few weeks for the Welsh No 1 who had also reached the singles final in Darwin while he won the doubles title in Cairns with American partner Dusty Boyer.

Hoyt is battling his way back in the game having been out for 18 months with a shoulder injury.

He has also reached a career high 380 in the doubles rankings having risen three places from the previous week.

Earlier this year Dai Sport’s tennis writer, Owen Morgan, looked at Hoyt’s comeback from his junior days when he practiced with the likes of Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon through shoulder issues to playing back home in Wales.
