Anna Hursey completed a hat-trick of wins as she made a perfect start to the Europe Youth Top-10 tournament in Berlin.

The 14-year-old was one of only two girls to finish unbeaten after the opening day of the Cadet competition.

The tournament for Europe’s elite youth players is the first ETTU event after the break caused by COVID-19.

But Hursey was quickly in a winning stride as she came through a tough opening match against Bianca Mei Rosu.

Hursey beat the Romanian, ranked four in Europe, 3-2 (9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 6-11,11-6).

The Cardiff youngster, who competed for Wales at the 2018 Commonwealth games aged 11, then quickly saw off Belgium’s Van Hauwaert in convincing fashion by a 3-0 scoreline.

And Hursey finished her first day of action with another 3-0 victory, this tie over Slovakia’s Dominika Wiltschkova.

Germany’s Mia Griesel is the only other girl in the top-10 event to have won her three opening games.
