That’s Why We’re Mid-Table In League Two, Says Mike Flynn . . . As Manchester City Loom

Michael Flynn did his best to keep calm in the wake of one of the most frustrating nights of the season for him as he saw his side fluff their lines in the big dress rehearsal for Saturday’s FA Cup showdown with mighty Manchester City. “We created enough chances to win five games, but we didn’t win one. That’s why we are a mid-table team,” was Flynn’s honest post-match assessment. “The effort was fantastic and there were some outstanding bits of play, but it would have been nice to finish them off. When you have that many chances, gilt edged as well, you can see why we don’t kill teams off.

One Win In Nine Games . . . But Cup Kings County Keep The Faith

Mike Flynn insists his Newport County team can shake off their dreadful League Two form to produce another mighty FA Cup shock tonight. The County manager has despaired over his team’s recent results away from the glamour of the knockout tournament. In their last nine League games, the side that bundled Premier League Leicester City out of the third round and host Middlesbrough at Rodney Parade in a reply this evening, have won just once.

Flynn’s Newport Verdict On ‘Terrible’ Defending

Manager Michael Flynn described Newport County’s defending during their 3-0 League Two defeat at Grimsby Town as ‘shocking, terrible’. Tony Pulis . . . The Amber Army Foot Soldier Who Became A Decorated General

Newport County’s FA Cup journey brings them back to Rodney Parade in midweek, but it will not be the only home-coming. Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis is one of the city’s most famous footballing sons – a status hard-earned and well deserved, says Tom Prosser.  Tony Pulis once supported Newport County from the terraces at Somerton Park and gave his all as a player for his hometown club, but on Tuesday night he put all that aside when he brings his Middlesbrough team to Rodney Parde for their FA Cup fourth round replay.
