By James Skeldon Glamorgan coach David Harrison was full of praise for the way in which his side put themselves on the verge of qualifying for the knock-out stages of the Royal London Cup with a comprehensive eight wicket win over the Notts Outlaws at Sophia Gardens. “The boys were fantastic. We’ve bowled well all competition and to knock off only 73 runs has made us very happy,” said Harrison. “We saw that the pitch had been used on Friday for the Welsh Fire game in The Hundred and had been under cover for a few days, so we thought there would be a bit of moisture in the pitch if we bowled first.
By James Skeldon Hamish Rutherford is looking forward to hitting the ground running and concluding the rest of the season with Glamorgan on a high note. The New Zealander is available for selection for the One-Day Cup as well as the remainder of the County Championship games. This will be Rutherford’s fourth stint in English cricket. By Alex Bywater Glamorgan’s batsmen had a field day against Northamptonshire in Day three of their LV= Insurance County Championship clash with Kiran Carlson and Chris Cooke both notching unbeaten centuries. Carlson’s sublime 170 not out was the jewel in the crown of Glamorgan’s 462 for four as he and captain Cooke (133 not out) shared an unbeaten club record fifth-wicket stand of 307. Carlson said: “Me and Chris put on a great partnership. It was nice for me to score some runs and bat for a long time. Marnus Labuschagne and Billy Root batted beautifully earlier in the day and set the platform for us. Me and Chris knew there would be runs there for us if we batted patiently.
By Paul Jones Kiran Carlson and David Harrison will both step up for Glamorgan’s Royal London Cup campaign as Carlson is appointed captain and Harrison named as head coach. With club captain Chris Cooke and vice-captain David Lloyd both drafted in The Hundred, 23-year-old Carlson will lead the team in the 50-over competition, while Harrison will take over the reins from Matt Maynard when he joins Welsh Fire’s coaching set up. Director of cricket, Mark Wallace believes both will gain valuable experience from this opportunity.

Crawley and Billings – both part of the England squad beaten by New Zealand at Edgbaston – made 15 and 30 respectively, but their bowlers did the business to defend a total of 144 for seven. Two wickets each for Marnus Labuschagne, Prem Sisodiya and Dan Douthwaite put Glamorgan in control, but they were dismissed for just 104 as Labuschagne failed for the first time in the Blast.
Marchant de Lange has revealed simplicity was the key to becoming a Glamorgan record breaker. The South African paceman hit the county’s fastest ever hundred as they fought back against Northants.
