Welsh Premier League champions The New Saints go for World gold at Newi Cefn Druids on Friday.
The mid-Wales team have already equalled a 44-year-old World record set by Dutch giants Ajax after recording a 26th consecutive win.
Their 4-0 home victory against Newi Cefn Druids on Boxing Day saw them draw level with Ajax Amsterdam’s record set in 1972.
TNS can eclipse the record set by Johan Cruyff’s Ajax if they beat Druids away on Friday (December 30).
Ajax scored 78 in their winning run, conceding 18, while TNS have netted 86 times with 13 in reply.
Saints, who play at the Park Hall Stadium in Oswestry, are 21 points clear at the top of the Welsh Premier and on course for a sixth successive title.
Former Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace player Craig Harrison is the TNS manager and they are enjoying unprecedented success. They have qualified for the final of the Nathaniel MG League Cup and play Barry Town United in January, while they are through to the JD Welsh Cup fourth round.
TNS are also playing in the Scottish Challenge Cup and have beaten both Forfar Athletic and Livingston in reaching the semi-finals.
“It’s a bit surreal when you think about it,” said manager Harrison.
“There’s been a bit of negative press leading up to it about Ajax and TNS and how can you compare.
“But to win 26 games at any level is a huge achievement by the players and they should be very proud of it.”
Victory at Druids’ The Rock stadium on Friday would secure a piece of footballing history for TNS.
