The JD Cymru North Is Hotting Up . . . As Colwyn Bay And Airbus Battle For Title

It’s crunch time in the JD Cymru North, so here’s Dave Jones with his preview and predictions.

There's a huge weekend coming up at both ends of the JD Cymru North table.

Top two Colwyn Bay and Airbus UK Broughton, just a point apart, both face testing home games in their penultimate fixtures of the season.

Saturday sees leaders Bay host fourth-place rivals Llandudno, who until last weekend's loss to Buckley had gone eight unbeaten, while Airbus in second spot entertain Mold Alexandra, lying seventh and ending the campaign strongly.

Two home wins are our predictions, setting us up for a title race which will go down to the final day.

Expect Llandudno and Mold to give the leading pair good contests, though. Mold in particular will be encouraged by back-to-back wins over Bangor 1876 and Buckley.

With Llay Welfare and Prestatyn Town already relegated, three teams could still join them - Caersws, Bangor 1876 and Ruthin Town.

In the mother of all six-pointers, 1876 are home to Caersws on Saturday where a huge crowd is expected at Bangor City Stadium..

Bangor are coming off a demoralising 6-1 loss at Mold last weekend - their sixth league defeat in a row - but inspired by their fervent supporters, we believe they can get a win which could make them safe, depending on Ruthin's result at Buckley on Friday.

From 28 of 30 fixtures each completed, Caersws have 31 points, Bangor 28 and Ruthin 25.

Renowned battlers Ruthin simply have to win at Buckley to maximise their chances of staying up, but we predict a draw at The Globe.

Elsewhere on Friday evening, Denbigh Town should outscore relegated Llay at Central Park, while Flint Mountain can build on their revenge midweek 5-1 thrashing of Penrhyncoch by edging past Guilsfield.

Assured of third spot, last season's champions Holywell Town should see off visitors Gresford Athletic on Saturday, although the Wrexham side did beat the Wellmen 3-0 at home in February.

Prestatyn Town should finish up with at least a draw when they welcome Penrhynoch at Bastion Gardens

In Ardal North East, Llanuwchllyn can edge up to third with a home win over Llanfair United and Sion Tudor's side look a great shout to do so, 2 or 3-0.

Bow Street should get the victory which would nudge them within a point of leaders Dolgellau Athletic when they travel to Llangollen Town.

The Wrexham derby between Rhos Aelwyd and Cefn Albion has all the makings of a draw.

After back-to-back home defeats following a 16-match unbeaten run, CPD Y Rhyl 1879 will be desperate to get the win needed to edge them to the verge of the Ardal North West title when they welcome second-place Porthmadog to the Hops and Barley Community Stadium on Saturday.

Port have beaten Rhyl twice this season. at home in the ANW and away in the league cup and Saturday's clash is extremely hard to predict.

With what's at stake, it might be a tense affair and we go for a 1-1 draw/

Holyhead Hotspur still have an outside chance of finishing as champions, but they need to keep winning and Saturday's visitors to the New Stadium, Connah's Quay Town, will be a tricky hurdle to negotiate.

Against the odds, we fancy Town to grab a point from a 1-1 or 2-2 draw.

Nantlle Vale are a good shout for a home victory against Menai Bridge Tigers, while draw specialists Llanrwst United might end up with a share of the points at NFA.

Pwllheli are a hard team to predict and on Saturday they face a strong Llannefydd side which they beat on away territory 2-1 back in October.

Can Pwll complete a double? They did triumph 2-1 at Felinheli last time out, but before that had a difficult patch. We just veer towards a Llannefydd success.

Draw is the forecast for Felinheli's home match with Corwen.

Brickfield Rangers will be out for revenge when they take on Trearddur Bay in an Ardal Northern League Cup semi-final at Clywedog Park.

Bay whipped Bricky 7-2 in the FAW Trophy recently and on the back of last weekend's superb 2-1 win at Rhyl 1879 in the league, the Anglesey side might just tip the verdict over their Wrexham rivals.
