Ethan Galbraith has long been admired by Swansea City, and the Championship side have got their man.
Having completed a medical at Swansea's Fairwood training base on Friday, the 24-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Alan Sheehan's side to become the club's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Bobby Wales, Zeidane Inoussa, Cameron Burgess and Ricardo Santos.
Sweden international Melker Widell has also been integrated into first team proceedings at Fairwood having joined from Danish club AaB Aalborg, with his deal running through to the summer of 2029.
But Swansea - who also have a 12-month extension option in Galbraith's contract - have pulled off a real coup in securing the services of seven-cap Northern Ireland international for £1.5m.
“He has terrific technical ability which I am sure Swansea fans will appreciate and enjoy when they get to see him in action," Sheehan said of Galbraith.
“Ethan is hungry and motivated for the challenge of stepping up to the Championship. He is excited to be joining Swansea City and we are looking forward to integrating him into the squad over the coming weeks.”
Having made his first team debut for Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjær in the Europa League against Astana in November 2019, Galbraith truly honed his skills at senior level during loan spells with Doncaster Rovers and Salford City.
But he went up a level at Leyton Orient, as evidenced by his awards in his debut season at Brisbane Road when he scooped the Supporters' Club Starman award and both the Manager's and Player's Player of the Season awards.
Following the departure of former captain Matt Grimes in January along with the exits of Joe Allen and Lewis O'Brien after the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, midfield reinforcements were sorely needed at SA1.
Allen was once described as the "Welsh Xavi" by former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers, and in 2020, former Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough described Galbraith as his side's "little [Andres] Iniesta or Xavi".
Those comparisons have often raised eyebrows over the years, although they typify why both Allen, at the peak of his powers, and Galbraith are so perfectly suited to how Swansea aim to play.

Like Allen, retaining possession and passing ability are among Galbraith's key traits.
He was an influential figure under Richie Wellens last season, starting 40 of his side's 49 League One matches, including the play-offs.
Galbraith also contributed six goals and seven assists in the league last term.
He successfully completed an average of 0.9 dribbles per game in League One last season, the most of any Leyton Orient player.
Galbraith made 1.1 key passes per game, the second best in Orient's ranks, while he heavily outperformed his xG of 2.28 having netted six times.
His versatility is also a significant plus for Swansea, and one of the reasons he was highly-sought after by Sheehan, his staff and the club's new-look hierarchy.
Galbraith is more likely to operate in central midfield for Swansea, although he is more than capable of slotting in at right-back, as he did so regularly with Orient.
In Goncalo Franco, Widell and, as Orient described him, "domineering centre-midfielder" Galbraith, Swansea now boast three dynamic midfield players who are all under the age of 25, another crucial factor when it comes to the club's desire to create sellable assets. They still of course have experienced midfielder Jay Fulton - who has one year left to run on his contract - in their ranks.
Following some messier windows of late, with the likes of Mykola Kuharevich and Nathan-Tjoe-A-On recently shipped out, the summer of 2025 is giving the Jack Army huge amounts of hope.
The lack of a 2018-19 Oli McBurnie or 2021-2023 Joel Piroe type goal scorer remains a concern, although it is an area the club are continuing to explore.
The Swans are yet to delve into the loan market either, so an additional sprinkling of quality and depth will only further enhance what has quickly evolved into a squad that looks capable of challenging for a top six place in the Championship in what will be Sheehan's first full campaign as permanent boss.
